Premiered in Birmingham, Magnum Sport brings 70 photographs by 40 internationally acclaimed photographers from the celebrated agency, Magnum Photos onto the streets of Colmore Business District.
The exhibition, located over two sites in Snow Hill Plaza and the new Church Street Square, is presented through the collaborative efforts of Colmore Business District, the Library of Birmingham, Magnum Photos and Birmingham City Council. This exhibition builds on the successful partnership projects presented by Colmore Business District and the Library of Birmingham bringing together public and private sector organisations to deliver exceptional photography exhibitions and projects.
The show features images of global sporting icons alongside scenes of everyday sporting activity around the world. It reveals sport as a universal language which knows no borders; sport as an activity which bridges social, religious, and cultural and gender divides, and sport as part of, not separate from everyday life.

The exhibition, located at two sites at Colmore Square and the new Church Street Square – features seventy extraordinary photographs by some of the world’s leading documentary photographers. It includes images of the world’s global sporting icons alongside scenes of everyday sporting activity around the world. Presented to coincide with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the exhibition shows sport as a universal language which knows no borders; sport as an activity which bridges social, religious, and cultural and gender divides and sport as part of, not separate from everyday life.
The exhibition will run in Birmingham from 16 July until 9 September 2012, and is a superb opportunity to work by some of the most renowned photographers in the world.
